    UK SEASIDE AWARDS...

ENCAMS awarded Seaside Awards to FOURTEEN Ceredigion beaches in 2009. More details of this award scheme are accessible on the Keep Wales Tidy website.

    GREEN COAST AWARDS...

Developed and piloted in Wales - this award recognizes rural, unspoilt beaches with Blue Flag water quality, ensuring such beaches receive recognition without the need for inappropriate development which would spoil their natural beauty and risk damage to wildlife. In 2009, FOUR Ceredigion beaches were awarded Green Coast Awards.

More details of this award scheme are accessible on the Keep Wales Tidy website.

    BLUE FLAG AWARDS...

FIVE of Ceredigion's beaches were adjudged suitable to fly the coveted European Blue Flag in 2009.

More details of this award scheme are accessible on the Keep Wales Tidy website.

    PARENTS:

During the peak summer school holiday period, from mid-July to the end of August, Ceredigion ensures Beach Officer Lifeguard Services normally patrol bathing areas daily on the beaches marked: . Since the summer of 2009, Ceredigion County Council has enabled delivery of this service via the RNLI.

Note that neighbouring Pembrokeshire also normally provides peak season RNLI Beach Officer Lifeguard services at Poppit, near Cardigan.

    DOG OWNERS:

Ceredigion welcomes responsible pet owners. Every beach managed by the County Council provides areas where dog owners can enjoy the company of their pets.

Bylaws also apply to most promenade areas and seafront streets within Ceredigion requiring all dogs to be kept on leashes during the bathing season.

Full details of dog restrictions on beaches can be accessed on this page.
